While you may not have thought about it before, there are a surprising number of drawer slide manufacturers.
Sure, there are a few of the popular manufacturers like Blum, Accuride or maybe even Grass but the list is quite a bit longer.
A lot longer.
In fact, there are dozens of primary manufacturers and a huge variety of renamed imports.
So why bother knowing who makes what?
Well, here’s three good reasons to know who is who in drawer slide manufacturing:
Specialty slides like heavy duty drawer slides are not offered by the leading brands.
And cost for quality is another key reason to know brands like Vadania that offer excellent side mount ball bearing slides (but are relatively unknown).
Lastly, features vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and while you may prefer Blum for soft close slides; there’s reason to use Hettich slides for heavy duty slides and Accuride for bottom mount slides.
All of these add up to you having the resources to build new and imaginative projects.

I have been a professional woodworker for over 20 years and enjoy working with and finding new tools. I started as a professional cabinetmaker building "from scratch" cabinets in the 90's and have since moved to a serious hobbyist and amassed a pile of tools and techniques to share.
good articles i found helpful . By chance have you come across any company that makes a 3/8 in clearance glide. Many high end furniture manufacturerslike Michael Amini used 3/8 in clearance glides on many of their dressers and night stands. I have been unable to locate a manufacturer for that size slide.
Hi Lynn – for a side mount I have not seen these. However, an undermount like the Blum is the best bet as they have a smaller side clearance and the drawer slide is not visible.
